HFM BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) is looking for a full-time, 10-month Medical Assisting Teacher who is responsible for providing classroom, lecture, and practical experience for students in the Medical Assisting Program. The position start date is on or around June 1st, 2024. The Medical Assisting Program helps teach students how to perform administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the effective office operations of doctors, hospitals, clinics and other health care providers. The goal of this program is to enable students to develop a specialized body of knowledge and skills which prepare them to work in the emerging health care field. The program partners with St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam, NY to provide hands-on experiences for students in a real-life setting. Many students from this program go on to pursue post-secondary education in the medical field and work in our community.

HFM BOCES Adult Literacy & Corrections Education seeks applicants for a full-time Adult Educator/Case Manager to work with adult learners. The person in this role will help adults enroll in programs and persist through completion. Case Management in Literacy Zones involves providing referrals that help participants overcome life challenges, including access to education, training, apprenticeships, employment, benefits, health care, legal services, financial education, housing and more. Experience teaching adults, familiarity with online learning platforms, and an ability to network with community agencies is important. Proficiency with computers and varied Windows based software is necessary.

 

The person in this role will lead orientation sessions with groups; help students develop digital literacy skills; assist with the GED Test Center; deliver workplace skills to support employment pursuits; assist students who are job seekers find employment opportunities; post information to social media; follow-up with students who have left the program to determine employment outcomes; conduct student surveys; enter data related to student performance; run reports based on data; engage students to improve student and program performance based on data; follow-up with students with inconsistent participation; administer a variety of assessments; attend training and conference events as directed. Attention to deadlines and accuracy is important.

 

This is a full-time, 10-month teaching position with up to 20 days in the summer. This job requires a non-traditional schedule that will require two evenings per week. Occasional weekends will be involved for recruiting events. Reliable transportation is necessary. The position is grant funded; therefore, it is appointed annually as funding allows.  

 

TEACH Clearance

Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. HFM BOCES Adirondack Academy has an opening for a Mathematics (9-12) Teacher (2 vacancies). This is a full-time 10-month probationary Mathematics teaching position with some days over the summer. HFM BOCES Adirondack Academy is an alternative education high school.

NYS Mathematics (7-12) certification is required. Preferably, candidates should have experience working with at risk youth.
