Adirondack Academy, an alternative program within HFM BOCES, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Long-Term Substitute Earth Science Teacher to join our team. We are looking for an educator who is eager to build meaningful relationships with students, help them grow academically and personally, and contribute to a supportive and collaborative school community.

Responsibilities
- Teach Earth Science curriculum aligned with NYS learning standards
- Create engaging, student-centered lessons that meet diverse learning needs
- Build strong, positive relationships with students to support both academic and social success
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to maintain consistency and unified support
- Provide a structured, predictable classroom environment
- Demonstrate patience, flexibility, and professionalism when addressing student needs
- Contribute to a culture of consistency, teamwork and shared responsibility
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development as required
New York State Certification required
- Commitment to working with alternative education students
- Ability to build rapport and foster trust with youth
- Patience, adaptability, and and strong communication skills
- Desire to make a meaningful difference in students' lives
- Willingness to embrace a team-based, consistent educational environment
TEACH Clearance
Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
