Adirondack Academy, an alternative education program within HFM BOCES, is seeking a passionate and dedicated Math Teacher to join our team. This position is ideal for an educator who understands that success in mathematics is built through strong relationships, engaging instruction, and a commitment to meeting students where they are academically and emotionally.

We are looking for a teacher who can bring fresh, innovative ideas to the classroom while helping students develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in their abilities. Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging mathematics instruction aligned with New York State Learning Standards.
  • Develop creative and relevant learning experiences that make mathematics accessible and meaningful to all learners.
  • Differentiate instruction to address a wide range of academic abilities and learning styles.
  • Foster a positive, structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and success.
  • Build supportive relationships with students while maintaining consistent expectations and accountability.
  • Utilize assessment data to monitor progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, administrators, and families to support student achievement.
  • Integrate technology and real-world applications to enhance student learning and engagement.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Valid New York State Certification in Mathematics 7-12 (or eligibility for certification).
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Understanding of ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and trauma-informed educational practices.
  • Ability to remain patient, flexible, and solution-oriented in a dynamic educational setting.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to supporting students in an alternative education environment.

 

TEACH Clearance

Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required. Formal job offer/selection is contingent on ability to obtain a fingerprint security clearance through the TEACH system prior to working.
