Job Description

World Language Teaching Assistant (Full-Time or Part-Time)

HFM BOCES is seeking a student-centered and flexible World Language Teaching Assistant to support innovative world language programming delivered through in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning environments. The successful candidate will work closely with certified world language teachers teaching virtually to facilitate instruction, support student engagement, and extend learning opportunities to students across HFM BOCES programs and component school districts.

Responsibilities

  • Support certified world language teachers in delivering instruction to students in grades 9-12 virtually.

  • Assist with virtual, hybrid, and in-person world language classes.

  • Facilitate student participation, engagement, and communication during live virtual instruction.

  • Provide instructional support, small-group assistance, and academic reinforcement under the supervision of a certified teacher.

  • Serve as an on-site liaison for students participating in remotely delivered language courses.

  • Travel to HFM BOCES programs and component school districts to support students and coordinate instructional activities.

  • Assist with classroom management, attendance, assessment administration, and instructional technology.

  • Support student success by monitoring progress and communicating concerns to supervising teachers.

  • Collaborate with school staff, college partners, and families as appropriate.

  • Participate in professional learning and school activities as assigned.

Assignment

  • Full-time or part-time opportunities available.

  • Minimum appointment: 0.2 FTE.

  • Primary assignment based through HFM BOCES.

  • Position includes support for students located at:

    • HFM BOCES programs

    • Component school districts

  • Travel throughout the HFM BOCES region may be required

Salary

Salary commensurate with experience and FTE and in accordance with the HFM BOCES Teachers' contract.

Job Qualifications

 

  • New York State Teaching Assistant certification or eligibility for certification.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and technology skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with secondary students.

  • Willingness to travel within the HFM BOCES region as assigned–valid driver’s license required

  • Bilingual or multilingual proficiency.

  • Comfort working with diverse student populations.

  • Comfort with educational technology platforms including videoconferencing and learning management systems.

  • Interest in world language and cross-cultural education.

 

TEACH Clearance

Per Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment from the State Education Department is required.
