HFM BOCES is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support our Medical Assisting Program. As a member of the HFM BOCES Career and Technical Education team, you will help students develop the technical, professional, and employability skills needed to succeed in healthcare settings while making a lasting impact on the future workforce of our region.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist the Medical Assisting instructor with classroom, laboratory, and clinical simulation activities.
  • Support students during hands-on instruction involving medical terminology, patient care skills, vital signs, infection control, medical office procedures, anatomy and physiology, and other healthcare-related competencies.
  • Help prepare instructional materials, laboratory equipment, and clinical learning experiences.
  • Reinforce lessons through individual and small-group student support under the direction of the instructor.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and professional healthcare learning environment.
  • Support students as they develop workplace readiness skills, professionalism, communication skills, and patient-centered practices.
  • Assist with student supervision during field trips, healthcare facility visits, guest speaker presentations, and work-based learning experiences.
  • Collaborate with healthcare partners, hospitals, physician offices, clinics, long-term care facilities, and other regional healthcare organizations to support student learning opportunities.
  • Encourage student engagement, confidence, and career exploration within the healthcare field.
  • Support the implementation of industry-recognized standards and employability skills expected in healthcare professions.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside talented culinary educators, local restaurants, hospitality leaders, chefs, and aspiring culinary professionals as they prepare for careers in the food service and hospitality industries.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will help students develop the technical skills, creativity, professionalism, and work ethic needed to succeed in culinary arts, baking, restaurant operations, catering, hospitality management, and related career pathways. Your support will help create meaningful hands-on learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to real-world industry expectations.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Assist the Culinary Arts instructor with daily kitchen, laboratory, and classroom instruction.
  • Support students during hands-on culinary activities including food preparation, cooking techniques, baking, sanitation, food safety, customer service, and restaurant operations.
  • Help prepare ingredients, equipment, and instructional materials for laboratory experiences.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized commercial kitchen environment that adheres to industry standards and food safety regulations.
  • Support students individually and in small groups under the direction of the instructor.
  • Reinforce workplace readiness skills including teamwork, communication, professionalism, time management, customer service, and leadership.
  • Assist with catering events, special functions, culinary competitions, industry visits, and work-based learning experiences.
  • Help students understand the expectations and opportunities available within the culinary and hospitality industries.

The Early CTE Program seeks to blend authentic career exposure, real-world application of skills, and hands on learning to empower students as they develop both technical and professional skills; while moving each student closer to their goal of becoming enrolled, employed, or enlisted after high school graduation.

Auto Body TeacherAUTOBODYTCHR2026-CTE

HFM CTE is seeking an innovative Auto Body Teacher. This tenure-track position is available immediately. The correct candidate must have a minimum of 4 years of Auto Body Experience. The applicant must be eligible to apply for the NYS Transitional A Certification in Vehicle Body Repair and Painting 7-12 including passing an appropriate background check and fingerprint clearance. A degree in teaching is not necessary to apply for this position, but auto body industry experience is required. 

 

Appropriate candidates will be able to impact our CTE students' lives and create a classroom to industry pathway for students to attain a career in the Auto Body field.
