Job Title: Teaching Assistant – HFM PTECH Program 
Location: SUNY Fulton-Montgomery Community College, Student Union 
Employment Type: Full-Time, 10-Month Position (Job hours 7:50-2:15) 
Certification Requirement: Teaching Assistant (any level) 

Position Overview: 

The HFM PTECH Teaching Assistant supports students enrolled in the Pathways in Technology Early College High School (PTECH) program, a six-year initiative that blends high school, college, and career preparation. This role is based at SUNY FMCC and focuses on academic support, classroom coverage, and professional skills development. 

Key Responsibilities: 

 

Instructional Support: 

  • Assist students in a study lab environment with academic tutoring across multiple subjects. 

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to reinforce classroom instruction. 

  • Occasionally cover classes for PTECH teachers, delivering predesigned lessons and maintaining classroom management. 

  • Support students with special needs or accommodations under the supervision of certified teachers.

 

Workshop Facilitation: 

  • Teach predesigned workshops on professional skills, career readiness, and other enrichment topics aligned with PTECH goals to small groups of students. 

  • Student Engagement & Management: 

  • Monitor and guide student behavior in the FMCC Student Union and study lab spaces. 

  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive learning environment. 

  • Collaborate with PTECH staff to identify and address student academic and behavioral concerns. 

  • Administrative & Collaborative Duties: 

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, college liaison, and college staff to support student success.
