The HFM BOCES Business Office is looking for a Deputy Treasurer.  This is a non-represented, 35 hour, Monday-Friday position with full benefits.

This position involves the responsibility of assisting the Treasurer, BOCES with the management of various financial functions in accordance with established policies and procedures, with the primary focus being budget development, analysis and processing of financial transactions. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Treasurer, BOCES with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work·. Does related work as required. 
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES (Illustrative but not exhaustive): 
Maintains detailed accounting records and monitors all funds in accordance with established policies and procedures; 
Prepares general ledger journal entries and oversees the reconciliation of various financial accounts; 
Assists with the oversight of payroll accounting and various reports; 
Responsible for the annual audit of all accounts maintained or supervised by the Treasurer, BOCES; Conducts periodic audits of various funds to ensure compliance with general operating procedures; 
Issues receipts for all monies received and deposits all funds in a timely fashion; 
In the absence of the Treasurer, BOCES, transfers monies as required for payroll, interfund transfers and cash flows; 
Disburses monies upon receipt of a signed warrant or duly certified payroll or Board resolution;

Oversees the preparation of Warrant of Claims for all accounts including generation of warrants, entering of purchase order information, verifying expenditures and releasing checks for payment approved by the Board of Education; 

Assists the Treasurer, BOCES in various aspects of annual budget development and BOCES aid reporting; 
Responsible for the investment of monies including portion of monies to be invested, length of 
investment and making sure all investments are fully guaranteed or insured; 
Assists in the preparation of a variety of reports in connection with financial accounting and statistical affairs

HFM BOCES Special Education has a vacancy and is accepting applications for full-time, 10-month, tenure track Special Education Teachers. There may be additional opportunity for summer work for the Extended School Year Program. This position has a start date of September 1.

HFM BOCES Operations Department is seeking a Substitute Custodial Worker. 

POSITION SUMMARY
The Substitute Custodial Worker position involves routine and repetitive manual work calling for the efficient and economical performance of building cleaning and occasional minor maintenance tasks. Cleaning tasks are performed according to a well-established procedure and maintenance tasks are performed under direct supervision or according to specific instructions. Supervision is received from a Custodian or other supervisor. Supervision over the work of others is not a responsibility of employees in this class. Does related work as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)
The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:

  • Sweeps and mops floors and stairs
  • Dusts desks, woodwork, furniture and other equipment
  • Washes windows, walls, blackboards, sinks and other fixtures
  • Polishes furniture and metal furnishings
  • Empties waste baskets, collects and disposes if rubbish
  • May mow lawns, trim shrubs, rake leaves, remove snow and ice from walks and driveways and perform a variety of other grounds keeping tasks as assigned
  • Assists in the operation of oil, gas or coal fired low-pressure heating system including firing and removing ashes
  • Delivers mail and packages
  • Places and removes traffic safety signs
  • Arranges chairs and tables and other equipment for special use of building
  • Repairs window shares, replaces light bulbs, soap and towels
  • Paints rooms and equipment and assists in making minor plumbing, carpentry and electrical repairs
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager

  • Working knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies and equipment
  • Willingness to perform routine cleaning and other manual tasks

POSITION INFORMATION

  • Employment is on an as-needed basis.
  • Services may be needed for one day, one week, one month or longer.
  • All daily assignments are subject to possible cancellation (without compensation) at any time prior to the beginning of the workday.
  • Need for substitutes will vary from day-to-day and week-to-week and, as such, no guarantee can be given for work on any given day.
  • Supervised by Building or Program Administrator.
  • Employment is automatically discontinued effective June 30, unless the individual is reappointed for the following school year.
